Animal Licenses

Dog,  Cat, and Chicken Licenses

City dog and cat licenses will be available for purchase at the City Office, Liquor Store, or by clicking the link below. The fee is $8.00 for spayed or neutered pets and $10.00 for unaltered pets. Proof of current vaccinations is required.

All animals over the age of three months kept, harbored, or maintained by their owners in the city, shall be licensed and registered with the city. The City Clerk shall issue licenses upon payment of the license fee and proof that the animal is vaccinated against distemper and rabies, as evidenced by a certificate by a veterinarian qualified to practice in the state in which the animal is vaccinated.

City chicken licenses will be available for purchase at the City Office, Liquor Store, or by clicking the link below. The fee is $10.00 for up to 4 chickens.

 Annual Licenses expire December 31,  of the year of issuance.

91.04 FARM ANIMALS

        Farm animals shall only be kept in an agricultural district of the city, or residential lot of at least ten acres in size provided that no animal shelter shall be within 300 feet of an adjoining piece of property. an exception be made to this section for these animals brought into the city as part an operating zoo, veterinarian clinic, scientific research laboratory, or a licensed show or exhibition.

An exception shall be made for chickens when the following requirements shall be met:                                                         
1. No more than four (4) chickens shall be kept on the premises (parcel);                                                                                         
2. Chickens shall be kept in a coop or attached coop run/enclosed at all times;                                                                             
3. No roosters shall be kept on the premises;                                                                                                                                                   
4. The premises must be located in a Single and Two-Family Residential (R-1) or Limited Multiple-Family Residential (R- 2) zoning district; and 
5. The premises must have lot area of at least five thousand (5,000) square feet.                                                                     
6. A license is purchased annually at the City Office or Liquor Store. 

The fee is  $10.00 per address.                                                                                                                                                                     

Annual Licenses expire December 31,  of the year of issuance.
